PBMOVE is an utility written for the BBS program ProBoard for more com-
fortable administration of message and file areas. Single areas can be
inserted, edited, moved, copied, deleted or cleared. Global functions
provide global changing of all areas, single area groups or different
marked areas all together at once. In addition Hudson base users can
edit the Hudson base numbers within ProBoard.

A complete installation of ProBoard version 2.10 or higher is required
only. Version 2.01 is not supported.
Furthermore the files MGROUPS.PB (message area groups), FGROUPS.PB
(file areas groups) and AKA.PRO (AKA entries) are required within the
ProBoard directory. If these files are not present because there is no
need for defining groups or AKA's they can be created as empty files
with the following commands at the MS-DOS prompt within the ProBoard
directory:
■ C:\PB> rem >mgroups.pb <ENTER>
■ C:\PB> rem >fgroups.pb <ENTER>
■ C:\PB> rem >aka.pro <ENTER>
It is however recommended to organize message and file areas within
groups in order to enable all global editing functions of PBMOVE.

With ProBoard the configuration tool PROCFG provides a helpful tool
for administring the different message and file areas. Unfortunately
some important features for more effective administration are still
missing in the version 2.1x of ProBoard such as moving areas, global
area editing or changing of the Hudson Base Number. PBMPVE eliminates
these disturbing shortcomings in most efficient manner.

PBMOVE is provided in an archive file named PBMOVExx.ZIP, where xx in-
dicates the actual version number supplied, e.g. PBMOVE13.ZIP shows
that version 1.3 is included. After unpacking the archive file the
following files should be there:
■ FPBMOVE.CFG * Configuration file for PBMSG.EXE
■ MPBMOVE.CFG * Configuration file for PBFILE.EXE
■ PBFILE.EXE * File area module
■ PBMOVE.DOC English documentation (this file)
■ PBMOVE.DOK German documentation
■ PBMOVE.EXE * Executable programm shell
■ PBMSG.EXE * Message area module
■ FILE_ID.DIZ Short description for FILES.BBS
■ FILE_ID.GER German description for FILES.BBS
■ REGISTER.DOC English registration form
■ REGISTER.DOK German registration form
The archive should be extracted into the ProBoard directory but the
files marked with an * are mandatory to reside within this directory.
Of the three .EXE files PBMOVE.EXE is only executable one.

The use of the following keys will provide the essential functions of
PBMOVE:
┌─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┐
│ <Tab> ■ mark areas to move │
└─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
Pressing the <Tab> key inverts the red scroll bar into blue in order to
show the switching into the move mode of PBMOVE. The marked area is
moved by pressing the above mentioned keys. The areas adjacent to the
moved one will be moved up or down accordingly. For performance reasons
the moving is done at once without further confirmation by pressing the
appropriate moving key.
┌── CAUTION: Moving the marked area will already change the ──────────┐
└─────────── existing area structure! ────────────────────────────────┘
Pressing the <Tab> or <ENTER> key will remove the marking and the move
mode is left accordingly.
┌─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┐
│ <ENTER> ■ editing area │
└─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
Pressing the <ENTER> key will invoke the PROCFG compatible editor mode.
All entries can be edited in the same way as the ProBoard tool PROCFG
does.
However within the module MESSAGE AREAS in non editable fields the pro-
cedure to choose between the options has been chanced in that way that
instead pressing the keys <cursor left> or <cursor right> to alter the
options, now by pressing the <Enter> key a window opens showing the
options possible. With the <cursor up> and <cursor down> keys one
option is marked and finally selected by pressing the <Enter> key. The
following example shows the field "Message kind":

ting changes together all single marked areas only independent of their
group membership.

Within the non editable fields pressing the <ENTER> key will open a
window im which the entry of the field can be chosen with the <cursor
down> and <cursor up> keys and selected with the <Enter> key. Into the
editable fields the enties have to entered. By default the value "0"
is given. Again with <ENTER> it is jumped to the next field and if a
change has been made two fields named "-START-" and "-CANCEL-" will
appear to decide if the change is to be made or cancelled instead.
Please note that within group editing that only field entries are
changed which correspond with the entry in the left field. In the shown
example above this means that only the areas with the entry "Local" in
this field are changed. All other areas without these entry are not
changed.
Area editing works in the same manner except the fact that the entries
of all marked areas will be overwritten with the chosen or entered value
without warning:

By pressing the <F3> key a window opens in which the column to start
the AutoSearch can be entered. AutoSearch in this context means that
when entering every letter the scroll bar jumps to the first matching
area with the appropriate letter. Because there can be area descrip-
tions containing equal prefixes which hampers the AutoSearch function
the <F3> key of PBMOVE provides a possibility to handle this as the
following example shows:

└─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘

The order of sorting of "NAME", "GROUP #0" and "HUDSON BASE" is ascen-
ding, whereas "LEVEL" are sorted descending.
Please note that when using the "HUDSON BASE" sorting the area number
shown in PBMOVE or PROCFG is not identical with the Hudson Base Number.
This means that despite new sorting order the Hudson Base Numbers are
left untouched. The program PROCFG does not provide editing of the Hud-
son Base Number as these number is not kept in an own field. PBMOVE
provides this functionality by inserting an additional field "Hudson-
Base" into the PROCFG-compatible Editor:

.......................................................................
If a new area is created with PBMOVE the field "HudsonBase" has an entry
"0" by default. If no other number or a number which already exists is
entered, an appropriate warning message appears.
The module FILE AREAS offers the following sorting choices:

The order of sorting of "NAME" and "GROUP #0" is ascending, whereas
"LEVEL" is sorted descending.
The choice of a sorting criteria is made with the <cursor> keys and
a confirmation with the <ENTER> key to begin with the sorting routine:

Pressing the <F6> key an ASCII file is written within every module
which contains a detailled listing of all area entries. This file can
be sent to a printer. The files are named "FILECFG.LST" (module FILE
AREAS) and "MESSAGES.LST" (module MESSAGES AREAS) and will be written
to the ProBoard directory.
The listing of the module MESSAGE AREA has the following structure:

PBMOVE was developed in Borland Pascal version 7.0 as PSC (Primary
Source Compiler). As SSC (Secondary Source Compiler) Warsteiner beer
was used, of course.

PBMOVE is used entirely on own risk. The autor will take no responsibi-
lity for any loss of data or any other direct and indirect damage which
may occur during the usage of PBMOVE.
PBMOVE is the interlectual property of Robin Heilos and as such pro-
tected by international copyright laws. Reverse engineering, patching
or any other modification is specifially prohibited without permission
of the author.
PBMOVE is supplied as shareware so it can be used and tested 30 days
for evaluation purposes free. After 30 days PBMOVE has either to be
registered for a fee of DM 20,00 or the usage of PBMOVE has to stop and
all files and versions of PBMOVE must be deleted. Distribution of
PBMOVE must follow the shareware principle so that a small fee only for
copying and providing the program ought to be charged by commercial
shareware distributors. The charging of additional fees like such for
unlocking archives as practiced by the company Intersoft at 46045 Ober-
hausen, is hereby strictly forbidden.

To register PBMOVE the form REGISTER.DOC has to be completed and should
be returned to the author via netmail or snailmail. When the registra-
tion fee is received by the author via remittance or mail the keyfile
is sent immediately via crashmail to the fido-address. The keyfile has
to be copied into the ProBoard directory an PBMOVE will start up in the
registered mode from now on.

Beside the author the most recent version of PBMOVE can be downloaded
or requested under the magic PBMOVE from the following systems. The
SysOps will also provide help and support when problems should occur
when installing and running PBMOVE.
